Queen Anne's Lace (Wild Carrot)

Daucus carota

Description:

Wildflower originally from Europe and Southwest Asia. Bloom is composed of umbels (many small flower stalks that come together, similar to an umbrella). Mostly white flowers often with a single central dark colored flower (usually red). Green leaves and stems with fine hairs. Young roots are edible.

Habitat:

Grows in disturbed habitat, roadsides, gardens, etc.

Notes:

Considered beneficial in it's native lands but USDA has it identified as a noxious weed. These were growing from the cracks in the pavement on the edge of a parking lot.
