This beauty is about 4 in. The mostly blue male is distinctive; the female's blue head and green body are also quite distinctive.
Uncommon in wet lowlands and foothills; to 3,000 ft on the Caribbean slope, and up to 3,900 ft on southern Pacific slope. These birds prefer the forest edge and gardens.
