Baird's tapir

Tapirus bairdii

Description:

A male Tapir resting into the mud, in an almost virgen forest in the south pacific of Costa Rica. Baird's tapirs average up to 2 m in length. Body mass in adults can range from 150 to 400 kilograms. The gestation period is about 400 days, after which one offspring is born.

Habitat:

Rainforest.

Notes:

We found 2 an old female and this young male, close to rio Madrigal.

So lucky, I have not seen too many mammals, here, I guess I will have to make a trip to "Osa" sometime. : )
