Waterlouse

Asellus sp.

Description:

Segmented creature with lots of appendages. First time we saw a water louse and there were apprehensions that it stings. So, the gentleman who was brave enough to fish it out threw it right back into the water. I got just one shot. the second photo is a cropped version of the first one.

Habitat:

Small pond in home garden where we had gone to see newts.

Notes:

Cannot see any spots (there should be one or two...depending on the species) so cannot say for certain.
