Shoestring Fern

Description:

Green long, stringy and growing downwards in a clump (like grass) on tree. It is an epiphyte requiring a host plant for structure. It is not parasitic.

Habitat:

This specimen was observed growing from an oak tree within a scrub oak area and basically in the shade. Approx. 15 feet in from a trail at a County nature preserve.
