Praying Mantis

Mantis religiosa

Description:

Wonder if it has decided that the tiny moth in Pics 1 & 2 is only a crumb and not worth the effort! In pics3 & 4 it has walked past it. For a real close up view, click on the first picture and you will get a larger version with a black background, Right click on that and select "open in new window" from the menu which appears. Go to the new window and in the address bar change the number 1200 at the end to 6000 and press "enter" - now you will be face to face! O just click this link: http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/lE45o2o...

Habitat:

Balcony, feeding on insects attracted from the surrounding countryside by night light.
Limestone outcrop in foothills of Los Serranos mountains.
