American five-lined skink (juvenile)

Plestiodon fasciatus

Description:

They grow to about 8.5 inches including the tail. The blue color fades with age. Adults will eventually become brown and males will have a reddish head.

Habitat:

Spotted along the Little Missouri River in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas.
