Nezara viridula f. torquata
At 18mm long these are much larger than the Palomena prasina at just 12-14mm long. Since there are over 4,700 known species of these I'll leave the ID to the experts.
Balcony, attracted from the surrounding countryside by night light.
Limestone outcrop in foothills of Los Serranos mountains.
Thanks for the explanation, I will make the changes.
I think someone knowledgeable needs to make changes to the Wiki pages because they are often created by people who probably know little about the subject, in fact I find some have been copied word for word from old on-line books. I am always finding errors on Wiki in my own fields (nothing to do with wildlife) and lots of people copy it into their own pages without verifying it through a prime source.
Hi Malcolm, the characteristic patterns of N. viridula are the 3-5 white spots along the front edge of the scutellum and the 2 dark marks at its corners.
About the length - other sources: Wikipedia German max. 16,5 cm, British Bugs max. 15 cm. I am pretty sure you have got N. viridula...
Hi tmvdh, I just checked N. viridura, it has a max length of 13.1mm, this one was much bigger than that, about 18mm.
