Scrambled egg slime mold

Fuligo septica

Description:

A series of photos taken over 3 consecutive days, here you can see this plasmodial slime mold develop from the time I spotted it, shortly after a rain, to the time it begins fruiting and releasing spores. Slime molds are believed to be some of the oldest organisms and may represent a common ancestor for the animal and fungi kingdoms. Fuligo septica has a worldwide distribution.
