Thanks, Malcolm! Unfortunately, this particular lizard was nervous and scrambled off the tree to scamper away fairly quickly. I'll look out for the nostrils the next time I see a monitor lizard!

There are only two Monitors in Singapore, the Clouded Monitor (elongated nostrils midway between eyes and snout) and the Malayan Water Monitor (round nostrils close to snout). Unfortunately your picture is too small to show this clearly.
