Yucca

Yucca spp

Description:

Long and narrow leaves radiate from the base of the plant with very sharp needle ends. Right in the center of the plant is a flower stalk with lily-like flowers.

Habitat:

This is growing in an abandoned garden of a business that closed several years ago.

Notes:

Yucca, also known as Soapweed, Spanish Bayonet, and other popular names, grows in deserts throughout the world. All of the non-woody parts of most yuccas are edible, and the blooms in particular are quite tasty, besides making an interesting addition to salads.
