Onion-leafed asphodel (Ασφόδελος)

Asphodelus fistulosus

Description:

Onion-leafed asphodel, a Greek native plant species, spotted blooming in my neighbourhood, Volos, Greece. The name of the plant means "sceptre", and the flower was a symbol of mourning, probably because it was often the only plant in rocky wild places, and the cattle didn't eat it. It's a good bee foraging plant.
