Goldenball Leadtree

Leucaena retusa

This is a medium sized evergreen tree that produces many yellow, puffy balls in spring and summer. It has multiple trunks with slender branches and small leafs. The bark is flaky and cinnamon-colored. The yellow balls are sweet smelling and we were able to smell the tree way before we spotted it.

This tree was spotted in a wooded area with a small pond. It was in a rocky soil surrounded by grasses and other shrubs.
