Black-tailed Deer

Odocoileus hemionus columbianus

Notes:

This older buck appeared right after hunting season ended. (The wise old ones always do!) He stayed in the area for several weeks joining a good sized family group of does and older fauns. It was interesting to watch him with the matriarch who looked to be in her last year, maybe. I wondered if this was his family group. He was very differential to her but courting the others. This picture makes him look young but he seemed to have some age to him. Maybe 7-8 years? When I find the rest of the pics from this day I'll add them.
