Syncerus caffer
These large African Buffalo were roaming the plains of Amboseli national park, contrary to popular belief, the African buffalo is not the ancestor of domestic cattle, and is only distantly related to other larger bovines. The white birds surrounding the buffalo and sitting on top of them are cattle Egrets which have a special relationship with the buffalo removing the insects and ticks from their coats.
Seen at Amboseli national park. Kenya.
