Description:

These were one of the larger Hummingbirds that fed from the honey water at Asa Wright's, (aound 5.5") .This is a species where the male forms a Lek to attract females and their calls are a loud 'swark'. It inhabits forest undergrowth, usually near water, and prefers hilly areas. It seems to favor primary rainforest and wet premontane forest.

Habitat:

Seen at the nectar feeders of Asa Wright's in the mountainous rainforest of Trinidad.
