Eumorphus quadripustulatus
Took this back in August 2012. Spotted on a trail in a primary tropical jungle on the side of a vertical fallen log. The "dating" couple were snug under a large fungi. The orange spots were so eye-catching. Could not resist a long pause for a few shots.
Found commonly on, around, under fungus shelves.
Thanks Agnes, it's been helpful. I'll keep my antennas up to get the exact species.
Yeah, I think what you've suggested may be right - looking at the photos on the website. Still unsure of the exact species. I guess, we'll have to wait and see.
I found out that their common name is Handsome Fungus Beetle :).
It's just hard to pinpoint the exact species from this catalogue - http://www.insectimages.org/browse/TaxTh...
Your beetles have small extended elytra, just like Eumorphus quadripustulatus and Eumorphus tetraspilotus.
Maybe this site could help determine which Eumorphus sp. it is -

Tried googling. Boy, it's tough to get the right family and other info. Maybe it's more generic. What do you think?
Can't really seem to find a good reference website for these beetles. Can anyone help?
