I saw a lot of small toads like this on certain trails. Most would let me handle them without fear.

Ok, was I the only one that came looking for eyelashes! ;) Lovely little toad Dan.
Thanks Jake and Lauren. I've added a photo of it on the forest floor. I had added it originally but the site is experiencing some technical difficulties I would say and it made the other photo a separate spotting. Now they are both back together!
Must be in the leaf litter, with that coloring! Beautiful.
