Spiny Lepidagathis

Lepidagathis cuspidata

Description:

Spiny Lepidagathis is an erect spiny shrub, growing to 1-3 ft high. Stems and branches are quadrangular. Oppositely arranged oblong-lance like leaves are 5-8 cm long. Lepidagathis cuspidata (Adhusa) is a spiny shrub and found in the tropical Himalayas and Western Ghats at altitudes of 300-700 m. Ban-gujjar tribes used the Lepidagathis cuspidata whole plant for the treatment of inflammation in fingers and itchy infections of the skin.

Agave like small plant with white flowers and thorny leaf apex. Growing in a fallow land.
