Description:

The Mormon Cricket is huge. It is is actually a shieldbacked katydid, not a cricket.

Habitat:

North America in rangeland dominated by sagebrush and other native plants. Their habitat begins in southern Canada and ranges south to northern New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California.

Notes:

We were on a guided hike in Yellowstone during a class about Yellowstone Wolves, when we happened upon a group of these. They are huge!
