Bonelli's Eagle

Hieraaetus fasciatus

Description:

We were driving along in the rain when we spotted a large bird on a pole. After passing it we slowly pulled over and took the first photo. We then turned around, drove back some way, turned again and pulled over for the second shot. We then crossed the road and drove even closer as the rain eased and took the third shot. At that point we saw another bird on a nearby tree (see next spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/193...). When we tried to move closer both birds flew but the first one soon returned and settled on the tree where the other one had been. The 5th picture is my favourite.

Habitat:

Tropical lowland rainforest.
