Shield Bug

pycanum rubens

Description:

This shield bug was about 3 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. The abdomen is mostly green except in the back where it is brown and the sides have bright orange spots. It has 6 legs and was very eye catching because of it's florescent, orange colors.

Habitat:

This was located in the secondary rainforest of Singapore. The shield bug was spotted at 2:14 pm between a decaying leaf and fallen branch.

Notes:

There were no insects near the stink bug because it lets out a foul odor to keep away predators. However a human nose could not pick up the scent.
