Purple honeycreeper

Description:

These birds are part of the tanager family, the males as seen in photos 1-3 are purple with bright yellow legs but the females strangely are green and speckled so you would never guess they were the same species apart from the bill and the bright yellow legs. they favour premontane rainforest and feed on nectar, berries and insects.

Habitat:

seen at Asa Wright's nature centre Arima, Trinidad. these are a northern South American Bird found also in Columbia,Venezuela and Brazil.
