Nephila pilipes
This orb-weaving spider was found in Northern Singapore. Its web was only about a foot above the ground; it was suspended between two rotting logs. The spider is about 1 1/2 inches long. It has dirty yellowish brown legs with black tips that appear to be hairy. Its thorax is also yellow, with black stripes running down it lengthwise.
This was found during a mostly dry part of the year. This was found in a secondary rainforest on a sunny day in Singapore. It was given partial shade by medium-size trees above it. About 20 meters away there was a gigantic Nephila Pilipes, which may explain the presence of this specimen.
I'm unsure as to weather this is a male or female. My best guess is that it's a male due to its size.
