You could try asking on the Backyard Chickens forums (they have a Goose subforum). I'm not 100% sure, but I know the pedigree African are very hefty with extensive dewlaps.
That's what the person who gave him to us said. Is there any way to tell for sure?
What makes you think African over Chinese? Chinese stand more upright like this with the smaller dewlap this guy shows.
