King's Mantle

Thunbergia erecta

Description:

Thunbergia erecta (Benth.) T.Anderson (Acanthaceae), is a sprawling shrub native to tropical Africa and introduced in the Philippines around 1900. Common names include Bush Clockvine, and King's Mantle. It has attractive, small, dark green leaves and tubular flowers which in the most common form are rich purple with a yellow throat. Its blue flowers resemble the Morning Glory.

Habitat:

Mount Makiling Forest Reserve in Los Baños, Laguna.
