Looks like a piece of tennis shoe to me
I don't think is mantis ootheca. IT looks very different. :(
Possibly a mantis ootheca?
I'm really curious about this spotting. Eggs? An oddly geometric fungus? A small scrap of shed skin? I hope someone recognizes it.
