Cup fungus/ Local-Kundi

Description:

The cups vary in size ranging from 5 mm in diameter to 2 cm. This fungus is found here in the months of Feb-Mar-Apr. It is believed to appear out of the earth when lightening strikes the spores. It is harvested by the local villagers and sold at about rs 120/kg. It's made in to a local delicacy very dear to the people of Chamba.

Habitat:

Western Himalayas.
