American Oystercatcher

Haematopus palliatus

Description:

A large shorebird with black head, large red bill and brown back with white belly.

Habitat:

Coastal shoreline

Notes:

The one and only Oystercatcher that I saw my morning on the coast. So much fun to watch this beautiful bird forage. I didn't spend long with this bird. I have a photography rule that if a bird is eating, I leave them alone. Once this Oystercatcher found his prize, I left him to eat in peace.
