Heteractis magnifica
The relationship between the sea anemone and clownfish allows the other to flourish through symbiosis. The colorful clownfish is protected by the stinging tentacles of the anemone, and keeps other fish away, forming a mutualistic relationship.
The magnificent sea anemone is widespread throughout the tropical and subtropical waters of the Indo-Pacific.
The magnificent sea anemone has two feeding methods. The first one is through the photosynthesis of its symbiotic zooxanthellae, living in its tissues. The second method through using its tentacles to stun, immobilize, and consume prey (small invertebrates, fry or juvenile fish).

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
