American Alligator juvenile

Habitat:

freshwater wetlands, such as marshes and cypress swamps from Texas to North Carolina.

Notes:

There were a few youngsters in this small pond. I did not see any adults (doesn't mean they were not there.) The pond was heavily covered in Duckweed (subfamily Lemnoideae). Can you see it? - Black Island Trail, Lovers Key State Park.
