Asclepias humistrata
Plant is an upright, hairy to smooth perennial. Flowers are in a terminal cluster or compact umbel. Corolla is pink (appears variegated). Hoods are pink. The most distinctive characteristic is the tan-colored flower buds.
Preferred habitat is woodland edges, thin pine forests, roadsides and rocky embankments. This specimen was observed along the side of the exit road of a County nature Preserve in dry sandy soil in full sun.
