Fruit eatable, size as big as Indian hog plum tree, growing on the roadside in Chandigarh.

This is definitely a loquat. The leaves of loquats are thick and tough with deep grooves and are wider than those of Vitellaria paradoxa. They are one of my favorite snacks to pick out of my yard :)
