Common sunflower (ηλίανθος)

Helianthus annuus

Description:

Helianthus annuus plant and flower (in the first pic you can see the disk florets of the flower head), spotted in an open ground, in Soutrali beach, Agria settlement, Pagasitikos gulf, Greece. Usually the species becomes really tall, but in this case, due to the lack of fresh water and the poor quality if the soil, the plants did not grow, so the flowerheads were small too... Still, they are beautiful!
