Description:

•They eat mainly insects and other invertebrates. •The nest and young are defended noisily and aggressively against all intruders by means of threats, vocalizations and low flights. •They are equipped with red bony extensions under the wings, used to intimidate foes and fight against birds of prey.

Habitat:

Lake and river banks, open grasslands -I saw these birds in Foz do Iguaçu (PR, Brazil)
