Lubber Grasshopper

Chromacris speciosa

Description:

colorful grasshopper, banded yellow and blue legs

Habitat:

pacific coast rainforest

Notes:

A large waterpipe branching off the main trail in San Cipriano forest reserve created a shortcut through the forest. I walked along the pipe looking for spottings and found a few decent ones. This grasshopper just happened to land on the pipe while I was photographing a caterpillar and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to photograph it.
