Notocrypta feisthamelii alinkara
Hesperiidae; Hersperiinae; Notocrypta feisthamelii alinkara Fruhstorfer, 1911. "Hesperiinae larvae feed on grasses and sedges. Adults typically visit flowers and hold their wings together while feeding. They hold their wings partially open while resting, with the forewings and hindwings held at different angles. They are usually orange, rust, or brown in colour and have pointed forewings. Many species have dark markings or black stigmas on their forewings." Philippine Lepidoptera.
These little skippers were spotted in a corner of our front yard, sheltering amongst some pot plants, and even on the concrete wall down behind the plants. Their problem was that they had eclosed on a day when there was a torrential tropical downpour and their prospects for survival were not looking good. However, it may be that they survived and went on to reproduce because it seems that they always emerge in the rainy season and must be able to cope.
