Black-tipped orange ichneumon

Ctenochares bicolorus

Description:

This large Ichneumon wasp has a long and slender abdomen that is mainly bright orange with a black abdomen tip. Wings are orange colour with black forewing tip. The head is orange-brown in colour. The antennae are orange with middle white band. On forewing there is the large pentagonal areolet (small enclosed area).

Habitat:

See it on a number of plants in my yard searching for moth caterpillars as its a parasitic wasp. So quite beneficial

Notes:

This wasp is originally from Africa but has spread throughout the world
