Garden Jumping Spider

Opisthoncus parcedentatus

Description:

A jumping spider about 7mm long. It was a pale yellow with white lines. The abdomen showed a narrow horse-shoe shape of deep brown rectangular patterns. Eyes were a dark brown.

Habitat:

Spotted on a eucalytpus tree in a narrow conservation strip.

Notes:

This is probably a female as males are said to be difficult to spot. These spiders hunt during the day and retreat in leaf shelters at night. Family: Salticidae
