Description:

One of the most easily recognizable ducks in North America and Eurasia. Males have an iridescent green head, yellow bill, reddish brown chest, gray body, black rear and bright orange legs. Females are mottled brown with orange and brown bills. Both sexes have a small, white-bordered blue patch on the wings (called a speculum).

Habitat:

Bronx Zoo, outdoor waterbird enclosure (though they could be seen in various places throughout the zoo where there were water features).
