A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Looked just short of an inch in length. It wagged it's black bottom end around.
It was spotted in antigens woodland near a flowing stream.
It looks like maybe trying to break out of an exoskeleton, could take anything from a few minutes to several hours before it heads off into a new life. I see similar things crawl out of our garden pond and up a plant stem and eventually a dragonfly emerges through a hole in the back, dries its wings and flies off. So, it looks like a nymph but no idea what it might become.
