Description:

These pink buds are surrounded by radial, speckled leaves.

Habitat:

Spotted in the tropical rainforest of Akaka Falls State Park.

Notes:

I think this is a diseased azalea. There are several subgenera within Rhododendron, so it's tough to say.

Yes, looks like an azalea or other Rhododendron species.
