Large Gum-treehopper or Common Jassid

Eurymela fenestrata

Description:

Adult body length 15mm Common Jassid is one of the largest size in the Eurymelidae family. The adult is brown and dark violet in colour under sunlight. There were some white spots on its wings. Nymph has the red body with black markings.

Hey Mac, you might be interested in this article on Brochosomes, which leafhoppers produce in their guts and apply to their bodies. http://www.inhs.uiuc.edu/~rakitov/brocho... It causes the blue tinge.
