A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Callicore sp.
Only a fallen wing on the forest floor. Size: Approximately 4 cm Photos from the both sides of the wing.
Amazon rain forest, Carajas National Forest, Para, Brasil.
The taxonomy is not clear to me either. I do not know also why Hubner is spelt with a capital H. There are many helpful and knowledgeable people on PN...I am sure they will help. I look forward to learning more. Thank you AJ Arruda.
And I found the photo on the other side of the same wing, that might help in the identification.
Thanks @SukanyaDatta for the help! The taxonomy of this genus seems not to be easy. When I photographed this wing on the forest floor I had the impression that it was a complete wing, but seeing the images of the wings in this genus I'm not sure about it anymore.
The taxonomy seems a little strange to me because it says, "TAXONOMIC STATUS.genus of unknown status."
I hope some one more knowledgeable will be able to explain what this means. The picture matches well though and Wikipedia has some stuff about the Genus: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callicore
