Giant Palm Weevil

Rynchophorus sp

Description:

absolutely gigantic weevil!

Habitat:

amazon, tropical rainforest

Notes:

There was a small group of these weevils and other insects feeding on the sap of a tree. I've never seen weevils this large, I was really surprised. The Amazon always amazes!

I only know Rnychophorus cruentatus, the Palmetto Weevil (black morph!) or Rynchophorus bilineatus. But I do not know the range of Cruentatus (mybest guess), if it is found in Colombia as well.
