Eriobotrya japonica
These small fruits have a plum textured yellow flesh inside and when ripe are sweet and can be eaten on their own or made in to jam or chutney either. they are quite messy to eat though as the flesh tends to stick to the stone inside.
seen growing at the side of the road, in open fields and in residents gardens.

Hi gr33n5unday, yes they are edible and are a lot smaller than pears, more like mini plums or qumquats.
Is it eatable? Looks like pear
