Six-spot Burnet

Zygaena filipendulae

Description:

Black day-flying moth with 6 red spots on the front and red with black edges in the back with wingspan of 30–40 millimetres. Can spot them on hot, sunny days from June to August. Found this one on knapweed, but are attracted to a wide variety of flowers.

Habitat:

Throughout Europe. Spotted this one in mountains.

Notes:

I apologise for not so clear picture of this beautiful moth, but my camera insisted on focusing on other things instead and the moth wasn't so patient either to wait for the camera to decide :)
