Eudyptula minor
Smallest of all the penguins. Flightless seabird weighing about a kilo when mature and growing to a height of about 40cm.
They lay their eggs in burrows on the seashore and a breeding pair will share incubation shifts. This one was spotted at Bicheno Tasmania.

I would just poke it to see if it is tender as it looks ;)
He is cute isn't he Injica
Too cute :))))
We had only done the same thing with the red light until we happened upon this little guy through the day.
So cute. I've only ever seen them in the dark, on the neck of Bruny Island, where they nest along with the Short-tailed shearwaters. We use a red spot light, so as to not startle/blind them, but that's not enough light to see much in the way of detail and far too little to get a photograph.
He was vulnerable Alice. It was in the daytime and we were walking down some steps omto the beach and heard a noise underneath. Definitely not feeling comfortable.
Looks vulnerable
