Garlic Mustard

Alliaria petiolata

Description:

Small, white, four petaled flowers in small clusters. Toothed, triangular and/or heart-shaped leaves. Produces slender, erect seed pods (see picture #3). Biennial plant. Produces flowers in second year of growth.

Habitat:

Bronx Zoo in "in-between" areas.

Notes:

Edible! Young leaves and seeds most often used. Considered a noxious weed in the United States. Invasive and aggressive.
