Yellow-bellied slider

Trachemys scripta scripta

Description:

The yellow-bellied slider is a land and water turtle. A pond slider native to the southeastern United States, from Florida to southeastern Virginia. It is found in slow-moving rivers, floodplain swamps, marshes, seasonal wetlands, and permanent ponds. Yellow-bellied sliders are popular as pets.

Habitat:

This yellow-bellied slider was spotted crossing the road at an rv park going to the pond. I waited for it to cross to make sure it safely got across and saw it go into the pond.
